The municipality of Andorra la Vella start one awareness campaign and road discipline due to the increase in the use of personal mobility vehicles, especially electric scooters. The operative foresees random and static checks in pedestrian areasresidential areas and commercial areas, with penalties that can range from 20 to 120 euros.
The corporation remembers that it is it is forbidden to ride an electric scooter on sidewalks, squares, gardens and spaces reserved for pedestrians. It also emphasizes that the minimum age to drive these vehicles is 16 years and that it is mandatory to have one valid civil liability insurance. In addition, users will have to drive with lit upreflective elements, braking system and acoustic warning, i adapt the speed to the environment. Helmet use is mandatory on interurban roads and for minors. In the most serious cases, such as drive without insurance, the vehicle may be immobilized.
The Minister of Circulation and Parking, Xavier Suranahas defended that the campaign has a pedagogical character and not fundraisingwith the aim of guaranteeing the safety of pedestrians and improve coexistence in public space.
