The festivities for Father’s Day will cause a growth in the demand for travel by application in Lima, this Sunday, June 21. According to a statistical analysis carried out by the mobility company Cabify, the need for private transfers will experience a growth of 110% compared to an average Sunday of the year.
This increase responds directly to the mobilization of hundreds of families to residential areas, tribute lunches and activities linked to the entertainment sector. According to projections, commercial dynamism and attendance at gastronomic establishments will be the main factors of road congestion on various avenues of the city.

The concentration of the supply of restaurants, shopping centers and family meeting points will generate an unequal impact on the capital’s districts. According to the Cabify reportfive specific districts will lead the congestion and demand indices of trips by application during the Father’s Day:
- Miraflores: will register the highest variation in the city, with a projected increase of 230% in travel flow.

According to urban mobility patterns, departures will begin prematurely from 7:00 am due to last minute shopping and morning visits. However, the private mobility company’s report identifies three critical time blocks where traffic will become more complex:
- At 11:00 am: Motorized travel will double the city’s standard average.
- At 1:00 pm (main peak): coincides with family lunch, demand will increase up to 220%, and will cause travel times to be up to 25% slower.
- From 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm: a second spike in congestion will be recorded, close to 190%, driven by the return to homes and subsequent recreational outings.
Travel demand to food establishments and shopping complexes will grow by 150% compared to an ordinary weekend. This year, the flow of users will not only be motivated by traditional family gatherings, but also by those who will seek to attend football match broadcasts in public centers.
