The Dominican Eva Brito won the bronze medal after losing in seven sets to the Mexican Clio Barcenas this Wednesday in women’s singles at the Central American and Caribbean Senior Table Tennis Championships held in the Parque del Este.
The sets were 11-6, 9-11, 9-11, 11-4, 11-2, 9-11, 11-9 in favor of Barcenas, who advanced to the final to face Estela Crespo, from Cuba, for the gold medal. In the semifinal, Crespo defeated Edmarie León, from Puerto Rico, 4-3.
In the quarterfinals, Brito defeated Brianna Burgos, from Puerto Rico, 4-1 (8-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-8, 11-7). Eva successfully bypassed the round of 32 by beating Salvadoran Kenny Orellana, and in the round of 16 she won 4-2 against Stuti Kashpya, from Trinidad and Tobago.
The Senior Championship is the second event of the triple program that takes place in the Parque del Este. The first was the qualifier for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, and the third, the youth tournament, which begins this Friday and runs until the 23rd of this month.

In the mixed doubles final, the Puerto Rican duo, made up of Steven Moreno and Brianna Burgos, won the gold medal by defeating the Mexican couple, made up of Marcos Madrid and Clio Barcenas, 3-2.
