According to the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), a forest fire broke out shortly before lunchtime near Eschdorf, close to the Upper-Sûre Lake, in an area that was difficult for the emergency crews to access.
Around 50 firefighters were mobilised to prevent the fire from spreading. The operation took over two hours until the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported.
Fire brigades from Alebesch-Eschsauer, Colmar-Schieren, Ell, Feulen, Goesdorf, Grevels, Lac de la Haute-Sûre (municipality), Lintgen-Lorentzweiler, Rambrouch, and Wiltz attended, accompanied by members of the Technological and Operational Support Group (GATO), and the Logistics Support Centre (CSL).
Reported road accidents
Around 12.50pm a car struck a tree on the CR132 between Eschweiler and Brouch, injuring one. Rescue crews from Biwer, Manternach, Echternach, as well as the air ambulance, were deployed to the scene.
Three people were injured when two vehicles collided at 2.14pm on Avenue de la Faïencerie in Limpertsberg. The emergency services from Luxembourg City and from Findel attended the scene.
Four vehicles were involved in an accident on the A7 at the Reckange slip road, shortly before the Mersch tunnel in the direction of Luxembourg City. One person was injured and was treated by emergency responders from Bissen, Mersch, and the Nordstad.
Within the space of an hour, there were three further accidents, each involving two vehicles, leaving a total of four people injured: one at 3.10pm between Dippach and Bettange-sur-Mess, where one person was hurt; another at around 3.30pm between Hamm and Sandweiler, where two people were injured; and a third shortly after 4pm on Rue de Roedgen in Reckange-sur-Mess, where one person was also hurt.
Emergency responders from Dippach, Mamer, Luxembourg City, Mondercange, and Schifflange attended the three accidents.
