The schools that will be used as voting locations in the General Elections April 12, there will be no classes on Friday the 10th or Monday the 13th, due to the installation and closing work of the electoral process, reported the Ministry of Education.
In total, there will be 10,130 educational institutions—both public and private—that will be equipped as voting centers in coordination with the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE).
The Minister of Education, María Esther Cuadros, specified that the premises must be available from Friday to Monday to guarantee the proper development of the election day, this was announced by the Minedu through a press release.
Given the suspension of activities, the Minedu indicated that schools must implement measures to recover the lost teaching hours, in order not to affect the school calendar.
To do this, the regional directorates of Education, the UGEL and the schools themselves must organize plans to ensure compliance with the scheduled classes.
The sector also ordered that educational authorities supervise the state of school infrastructure after the elections, guaranteeing that the premises are returned in adequate conditions for the resumption of classes.
