Airstrike on Kronstadt during Putin’s forum
The attack took place on the final day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Russia’s most important economic event, held in the hometown of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Ukrainian drones traveled about 1,000 kilometers and struck “enemy naval arsenals and a base in Kronstadt” – the Baltic Fleet’s main base near St. Petersburg.
At the moment, there is no independent confirmation of the extent of damage to the sites in Kronstadt. Russian sources reported an incident at a military site, without specifying the specific target.
Oil sites were also attacked
According to data from the Ukrainian side, an oil site in the Krasnodar region, about 500 kilometers from the front line, was also hit.
Footage of a fire at an oil base in the Ust-Labinsk region appeared on social networks. There were also reports of explosions in Tula region, occupied Sevastopol and other regions of Russia and occupied Ukrainian territories.
Independent verification of all messages is currently not possible.
Zelensky: It’s time for the war to end
The attack comes a day after Zelensky again called for a ceasefire and direct talks with Vladimir Putin.
The Ukrainian president said it was “time for this war to end” but accused the Kremlin of showing no readiness for real talks.
During the economic forum in St. Petersburg, Putin rejected the idea of a meeting with Zelensky and reiterated his position that an end to the war is possible only after Russian conditions are met.
Ukraine expands strikes in depth
In recent months, Kiev has increasingly used domestically produced drones to strike military bases, logistics centers, ammunition depots and oil infrastructure deep inside Russian territory.
The Ukrainian strategy is aimed at weakening the resources that Moscow is using in the war against Ukraine, as well as putting additional pressure on the Russian military and transport system away from the front lines.
