The Dominica Football Association (DFA) is hosting the DFA Academy Football Festival today, Saturday, June 27, 2026, beginning at 8 a.m. at the DFA Technical Centre in Stockfarm, Roseau. The event has been organized by the Association’s Technical Department in collaboration with Restore Caribbean Lives and First Baptist Church Indian Trail, North Carolina, with sponsorship from J. Astaphan & Co. Ltd. The festival is targeting players aged 6 to 15 years from accredited academies across the island, offering them the opportunity to showcase their talent, build confidence, and enjoy a day of football, fun, and competition. Talented players will be scouted for possible selection to the DFA National Academy, and participants will receive gifts in recognition of their dedication.
Meanwhile, the Dominica Olympic Committee (DOC) is preparing for its annual Olympic Day celebration, scheduled for today, Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Bath Estate Playing Field. The event commemorates the 131st anniversary of the International Olympic Committee under the theme “Move, learn, discover – Together for a better world” and the slogan “Let’s Move.” Activities will begin with a Run/Walk through Roseau, followed by demonstrations in various sports, aerobics, face painting, bouncing castles, and entertainment. The DOC has emphasized that the event is open to all ages, with refreshments, t-shirts, and health checks provided, and has encouraged participation from wheelchair users and cyclists with an adjusted route to accommodate everyone.
Together, the DFA Academy Football Festival and Olympic Day highlight a weekend of sport and community engagement across Dominica.
