The deputy of the Vamos coalition, Luis Dukequestioned the morning of this Wednesday, April 15, the fulfillment of commitments by the current board of directors of the National Assemblyafter the support provided at the time to the Panamanian Jorge Herrera to preside over the Legislature.
Duke pointed out that to date no concrete results have been seen from Herrera’s presidency, especially in relation to the transparency of the payrolls.
“I have to be clear and transparent. With the issue of the payrolls we have not yet seen progress. This deputy has requested information, he still does not have it,” he stated, while indicating that other deputies have also made requests without receiving a response.
The deputy also referred to the discussion of Internal Regulations of the National Assembly, another of the points that, he said, were part of the initial understandings. In that sense, he expressed his expectation that at least some progress will be made before the end of the period.
“We are hoping that on other points that also had to do with the discussion of the Internal Regulations“At least there can be progress within this process, so that something is fulfilled within this agreement,” he said.
Duke indicated that there are still about 15 days left for progress to be made, after which the performance of the current legislative administration will be evaluated. “After that, it will be definitively defined what that checklist of Deputy Jorge Herrera has been, which until now I think is not passing with a good grade,” he concluded.
The deputy’s statements come 15 days before the end of the regular period of sessions and amid comments that Herrera could be thinking about seeking re-election as deputy president of the National Assembly.
