The preliminary report of the autopsy carried out on Jesús de Miguel indicates that the Tenerife footballer died of “an accidental thoracic trauma”, according to the newspaper El Día. This is the first conclusion of the forensics of the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, although several results and complementary tests are still pending.
According to the same medium, chest trauma appears in this first report as a “cause compatible with death”, but pending studies will have to specify the exact mechanism that caused the outcome and confirm this first conclusion.
The report has already been transferred to the magistrate who is conducting the ex officio open investigation following De Miguel’s death. The cause will also include the medical examinations and tests carried out during the hospital admission.
The investigation remains open to clarify the circumstances of the collision with Jesús Owono during Tenerife-FC Andorra, as well as the subsequent health care and transfer of the player to hospital. The definitive autopsy and the rest of the medical reports must establish the specific cause of death and its relationship to the trauma suffered.
