Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States, believed in the robust assertion of national power. While Donald Trump famously disdains his predecessors, even he might approve of that particularly headstrong occupant of the White House.
But, as he confronts Iran, Trump seems determined to reverse Roosevelt’s famous dictum to “speak softly and carry a big stick”.
