In a video circulating via social media Daniel Lugay better known as Danny Lugay has begun his ground campaign for the Roseau North Constituency bi-election.
He said the United Workers Party will be participating in the upcoming bi-election constitutionally bound to take place within 3 months.
The bi-election follows the resignation on Friday of the former Roseau North Representative Miriam Blanchard of the Dominica Labour Party.
Lugay first ran for the Roseau North Constituency in 2009 where he lost to Julius Timothy. He subsequently won the seat for UWP in both the 2014 and 2019 elections.
He did not contest the 2022 elections due to the UWP choosing to abstain from fielding any candidates that year.
In other election news, both Delbert Paris and Annie Edwards both UWP members have expressed interest in running for the Marigot constituency.
The Marigot Association has gone as far as recommending Delbert Paris while Annie Edwards maintains her right to put her name forward for candidacy under the UWP constitution.
Edwards stated via her Facebook page that she deserves a fair chance at elections under UWP being a member of the party since 1990.
