
Daniel Lugay, the United Workers Party (UWP) representative for the Roseau North Constituency, has expressed gratitude to his constituents for their support and votes in the September 7 by-election.
Lugay received 998 votes, losing to the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) candidate Ashma McDougall. She received 1,473 votes.
“To the people of Roseau North, thank you for your trust, your conversations, your encouragement and your unwavering support throughout this by-election,” he said during a statement. “To everyone who gave their time, energy, resources and prayers —thank you. Your belief in me and in a better future for our constituency means everything.”
Though the outcome was not what he hoped for, Lugay says he remains committed to serving the people of Roseau North, “ and working for a stronger Roseau North.’
