Romania is facing a governmental crisis, but it must not neglect foreign policy issues, he suggests Christian Diaconescu. The former minister believes that in the region, “the situation is becoming more and more complicated”.
“We are preoccupied with internal issues. But around us, the situation is becoming more and more complicated. From 2027, the exploitations in the Black Sea, Neptun Deep, will begin,” said Diaconescu, on Sunday evening, May 24, for Digi 24.
Cristian Diaconescu’s explanation regarding the relationship US – Romania
Asked why the US no longer sends troops to Romania and prefers Poland as a first-rate partner, the Romanian diplomat replied: “Sure, I don’t know exactly what the contextual elements are in relation to this subject (…) As far as I know, United States of America have absolutely normal relations with Nicușor Dan, with Romania”.
Romania can have more initiative, believes Cristian Diaconescu.
“I hope that there is a certain type of security agenda with the US. For example, the idea of a permanent base in Romania. The announcement in relation to this topic and in relation to supporting funding can be a good argument in Romania’s rhetoric,” the foreign policy analyst also explained.
