Bank branches, INSS (National Social Security Institute) and Mail will not work this Thursday (4), when the Corpus Christinational optional point and holiday in at least 19 capitals.
In-person service at banks and the postal service resumes on Friday (5), if the location does not have a municipal or state holiday. The agencies of the Social Security they only return on Monday (8).
According to Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks), some institutions may maintain self-service areas in operation on Thursday, at the discretion of each branch. Bank clearing operations, including transfers via TED, will not be processed throughout the day.
Pix, in turn, will continue to be available normally. The system operates 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays.
Billing slips and consumption bills, such as water, electricity, telephone and gas, due on June 4th can be paid on the next business day without interest or fines being charged in locations where banking hours return to normal on Friday.
The guidance is different for taxes and duties. In these cases, payments must be advanced when the due date coincides with a day without bank clearing, to avoid charges.
“The suspension of in-person service does not prevent customers from accessing banking services, which remain available safely through digital channels and self-service areas offered by institutions”, stated Raphael Mielle, deputy director of Services and Security at Febraban.
In the case of INSS, Central 135 must operate normally with human support from Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 10pm, and electronic support available 24 hours a day. It is also possible to access services and information through the website and application My INSS.
