The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, appointed the former Minister of Economy, Carlos Fernández Valdvinos, as the new director of Itaipú Binacinal, where he would receive close to G. 120 million.
Through Decree No. 5851, the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, appointed as director of Itaipu Binacional Carlos Fernandez Valdovinos.
Fernández Valdovinos resigned on March 31 from his position as Minister of Economyafter being harshly questioned by the Chartist deputies for the bill to reform the Fiscal Fund.
Through the decree, Peña also annulled article 1 of Decree No. 245 of September 5, 2023in response to the functions he carried out as Minister of Economy and Finance. This decree established his appointment as a member of the Board of Directors of the Itaipu Binational Entity.
The coItaipu Binacional directors on the Paraguayan side receive approximately G. 119 million monthly. In the case of directors who are also ministers of the Executive Branch, the regulations establish that they do not receive this additional salary, renouncing the remuneration of the entity.
