Britain’s King Charles III has become the first British monarch to voluntarily disclose information about his income and taxes paid.

According to Buckingham Palace (.pdf) According to the 2024-2025 tax year, it paid 12.9 million pounds ($17 million). Thus, the monarch was among the 100 largest taxpayers of Great Britain.
Prince William also voluntarily paid £7.76 million (about $10 million) in income tax and capital gains tax for the 2024-2025 financial year.
Since Charles III ascended the throne in September 2022, the total amount of tax voluntarily paid to the budget by the king and his eldest son Prince William (via the UK tax service HMRC) has exceeded £50 million.
Buckingham Palace said the historic disclosure of the tax payments of King Charles III and Prince William was a personal initiative of the monarch and his heir as part of a campaign to increase financial transparency.
