Central Asia (CA) – The United States invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Miami in December. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced this at a briefing at the UN General Assembly in New York in response to a question from RIA Novosti.
“We invited President Putin to the G20. We think this is a good opportunity for him to interact not only with the President (US Donald Trump), but also with other world leaders. We hope he will accept this invitation,” Rubio said. He called the summit a possible platform for negotiations between the Russian and American presidents.
The day before, Bloomberg, citing a source, wrote that Vladimir Putin plans to skip the G20 summit. It will take place on December 14-15. According to the agency, the Russian president’s priority is the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China, which will be hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping. APEC will be held from November 18 to 19 in Shenzhen.
