MoF says the price drop means unsubsidised RON95 and RON97 now stand at RM4.02 and RM5.10 per litre, respectively. The retail price of unsubsidised diesel has also fallen by 75 sen to RM5.97 per litre. – Bernama photo

KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Unsubsidised RON95 and RON97 petrol prices have dropped 25 sen per litre each, while subsidised Budi95 under the Budi Madani programme remains at RM1.99 per litre from April 16 to 22, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced.

In a statement today, MoF said the price drop means unsubsidised RON95 and RON97 now stand at RM4.02 and RM5.10 per litre, respectively. The retail price of unsubsidised diesel has also fallen by 75 sen to RM5.97 per litre.

“The retail price of subsidised diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan remains at RM2.15 per litre. Meanwhile, the subsidised retail price under the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) and the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) remains at RM2.05 per litre and RM2.15 per litre respectively,” the statement read.

“In line with the Automatic Pricing Mechanism formula for this week, the retail prices of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia, as well as RON95 and RON97 petrol, have been reduced following the decline in international market prices,” MoF added.

To mitigate the impact of rising global oil prices on the public and to ensure the sustainability of food production and supply chains, the government has increased the Budi Diesel cash assistance to RM400 per month for April 2026.

This applies to 350,000 Budi Individu and Budi Agri-Komoditi recipients, involving an additional monthly allocation of RM35 million.

The ministry said this is the second time the rate has been raised due to global petroleum market pressures. The first increase, from RM200 to RM300, was made in March 2026.

In addition, the Ploughing Incentive for Padi Farmers (IPKP) for the 2026 planting season has been raised from RM160 to RM300 per hectare, involving an additional fund of approximately RM40 million and benefiting nearly 200,000 padi farmers to help the agri-food sector cope with rising input costs.

“Overall, based on current prices, the government is estimated to bear about RM7 billion per month in subsidies. RON95 subsidies have risen from around RM300 million before the conflict to about RM4 billion per month, while diesel subsidies have jumped from around RM400 million to about RM3 billion per month.

“The Madani Government will continue to closely monitor global developments and take appropriate measures to ensure the nation’s energy supply remains stable and sufficient, while further protecting the people,” the statement read. – Bernama
