Scotland had a hard time justifying their role as favorites against Haiti, but it was Morocco who left a better impression at the premiere – even though they won two less points in the duel with Brazil at the start of the World Cup.
And what the balance of power really is in the group will be seen at midnight (Friday to Saturday) when the Scots and Moroccans face each other in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
– We can play much better than what we showed against Haiti. And we will have to do better, because Morocco and then Brazil require something completely different – John Meggin, the scorer in the opening triumph, is aware.
The Scots have not been to the World Cup since 1998, when they were defeated by Morocco (3:0) in the last match in the group. The Moroccans are now even stronger, they played in the semi-finals in Qatar, and many still see them as a team that is ready to compete with the best in every sense.
– I think we deserved more than a point against Brazil, but the only thing that matters is that we continue like that. We want to be the ones who will ask themselves on the field against Scotland, which has its own qualities and which must not be underestimated – said the captain of the African national team, Ashraf Hakimi.
