The Liechtenstein women’s national team suffered a clear 6-0 defeat against Bosnia-Herzegovina today. In front of 764 spectators, the guests were superior from the first minute and never gave the home team a real chance.
Lightning start from the Bosnians
The game was less than five minutes old when Milena Nikolić took the lead in the 5th minute. Just a minute later, Selma Kapetanović increased the score to 0-2 – Liechtenstein was in shock. In the 8th minute, Marija Milinković set the third pinprick with the score 0:3.
As a result, the Liechtensteiners hardly found their way into the game. Although two actions ended with a shot on goal, there was no real danger. Nikolić scored a brace with her second goal in the 24th minute before completing her hat trick in the 35th minute with a 5-0 lead. The Bosnians continued to push through stoppage time in the first half, but failed to score any further goals. We went into the break with 0:5.
Changes hardly bring any improvement
Both coaches reacted in the second half. Bosnia swapped Nikolić and Milinković for Elma Husić and Andrea Grebenar. For Liechtenstein, Sofia Blumenthal and Eva Beck replaced Sina Kollmann and Felicia Frick.
However, the changes did little to change the game. A timid shot in the 60th minute was no problem for goalkeeper Somea Polozen. In the 64th minute, Emina Ekić increased the score to 0:6 after another attack by the Bosnians.
In the 71st minute, Liechtenstein was shown a yellow card for holding, and six minutes later a Bosnian player was also hit. The home team’s best chance came in the 78th minute: Viktoria Gerner was free in front of the goal, but her shot landed safely in the hands of the goalkeeper.
Clear result
The final result of 0:6 reflects the balance of power mercilessly. Liechtenstein was simply overwhelmed against the physically and technically superior Bosnians. Milena Nikolić was the outstanding player of the day with three goals.
