Blockade in the Assembly, Haziri: The statement of the Serbian List was used as a pretext for VV, the LDK does not withdraw from Kujtim Shala

The deputy of LDK, Lutfi Haziri, has commented on the developments in the last session of the Assembly of Kosovo, where it was not possible to vote for the vice presidents proposed by LDK and PDK. He also spoke about the statement of the deputy of the Serbian List, Igor Simic, as well as the possibility of the LDK withdrawing the candidacy of Kujtim Shala for the deputy speaker of the Assembly.
Haziri, in the show “Këndi i debatit” on Tëvë1, has described as unacceptable the language used by the deputy of the Serbian List, Igor Simić, during the session of the Assembly.
However, according to him, this situation may have been used as a pretext for interrupting the session and postponing its continuation.
“In the case of the Serbian List, the use of the vocabulary by the representatives of the Serbian List has been more or less the same in the past elections. However, now it is not good to use such terminology. It is unacceptable”, said Haziri.
He emphasized that the Assembly of Kosovo is the institution that carries the sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo and that the rules and code of conduct must be respected in the plenary hall.
“We have to say once again, the sovereignty of the Republic, in the physical and constitutional sense, has only one institution in Kosovo, which is the Assembly of Kosovo. Inside that hall there are codes of conduct, codes of dress, codes of declarations, because you don’t dare to go outside the established way”, said the LDK deputy.
Haziri said that there were reactions from the deputies to the statement, while according to him, the situation was then used to pause and hold a meeting with the leaders of the parliamentary groups.
“The language was unacceptable and the reaction was also from the deputies, not only from the president Albulena Haxhiu. This political mechanism was then used, saying ‘let’s pause’, to overcome this situation and to hold a meeting with the heads of the parliamentary groups. No cooperation was found to continue further. I think it was more of a pretext than anything else,” Haziri declared.
When asked if the LDK is considering the possibility of withdrawing the candidacy of Kujtim Shala for deputy speaker of the Assembly and if there is a “plan B”, Haziri said that the party’s candidacies are well thought out and that it is not about names that can be withdrawn due to political pressures.
“It has never happened to us, because we think carefully about the candidacies before we propose them. We have never had a chance in any political situation that we have to compromise on the candidacies, because they are not names to compromise on,” said Haziri.
He considered the current situation unfair and said that political agreements can be made on issues of representation and form of functioning, but not on the constitutional right of a party to propose the vice president.
“What is happening is not right. Normally, to make a political agreement, you agree on representation, forms and everything else. But this is a matter that belongs to the LDK as a constitutional right. In this case, the LDK belongs to the vice president and it is a formal vote in this country,” Haziri continued.
