According to DC’s announcement, the story explores the darkest parts of Bruce Wayne’s psyche, suggesting that the Dark Knight’s inner struggles could decide the city’s fate.
The series attracted attention from the very beginning due to the psychological approach to the character of Batman and completely new villains that were introduced to the readers.
The comic received excellent reviews
Rafael Grampa’s drawings and Mat Lopes’ coloring received special recognition, which critics rank among the most visually impressive Batman projects of the last decade.
Simultaneously with the standard edition, a special Noir version was published, which brings the same story in black and white, emphasizing the atmosphere and details of the illustrations.
DC Comics has announced that the entire series will be collected in a deluxe hardcover called “Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham – The Deluxe Edition”, which will hit bookstores on September 15, 2026.
This edition will contain all four issues and additional material, giving readers the opportunity to experience Grampa’s dark reinterpretation of Gotham and its most famous protector in one volume.
