The Director of Ground Operations in the Jordanian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yassin Farid Al-Qudah, said on Tuesday that the Border Guard forces dealt with 231 smuggling and infiltration attempts during the first half of 2026, and were able to seize 11 million Captagon pills and 14 kilograms of narcotic substances, including hydro and crystal, in addition to seizing 1,670 palms of hashish.
Al-Qudah added that 65 drones were shot down, and many various weapons were seized, noting that the Jordanian border fronts face renewed security challenges represented by the increase in smuggling attempts and the implementation of more than one operation at the same time to smuggle drugs and weapons through organized networks that use advanced and diverse means and methods.
He stressed that the Jordanian Armed Forces, in cooperation with the security services, continue to perform their national duty efficiently and competently to protect the borders and maintain the nation’s security and stability.
He explained that the Jordanian Armed Forces are dealing with the issue of infiltration and smuggling as one of the most prominent security challenges targeting the security and stability of the Kingdom, as the Border Guard forces are making continuous efforts along the border fronts, which are approximately 1,744 kilometers long, to monitor and follow up on any illegal activity or attempts to cross the border, through an integrated security and military system that relies on continuous monitoring, high readiness, and speed of response to deal with various threats.
He pointed out that smuggling methods have witnessed, in recent years, a remarkable development in the tools and means used, which necessitated developing operational procedures and raising the level of coordination between the various concerned parties, as the Jordanian Armed Forces were able to thwart many smuggling attempts, relying on the high professionalism of their ranks and relying on accurate intelligence information, which contributed to strengthening border security and reducing the activity of organized criminal networks.
He stated that the Armed Forces are constantly monitoring all developments related to smuggling methods, and are working to update their operational plans and procedures to suit the nature of emerging threats, relying on an integrated system of intelligence efforts and modern technologies that allow monitoring new methods and patterns of smuggling operations and dealing with them efficiently and effectively.
He stressed that the Jordanian Armed Forces continue to develop their operational, technical and technological capabilities, and strengthen surveillance, control and reconnaissance systems, ensuring speed of response and high accuracy in dealing with various threats, and achieving the highest levels of readiness for the border guard forces in protecting national security and preserving the stability of the Kingdom.
