Apple is already working on the generation of iPhones that would mark 20 years since the first model released by the company. And the first information appearing on sources suggests a noticeable design change for future Pro models.
According to the tipster Digital Chat Station, the tested prototypes for the next premium generation use a screen with curved edges on all four sides. We’re not just talking about slightly rounded sides, but about a “quad-curved” design, where the glass curves discreetly both up and down.
Such a screen can make the phone appear more fluid visually, with thinner bezels and a more natural transition between the display and the case. Additionally, swipe gestures from the edge of the screen could be more comfortable.
The anniversary iPhone could change the design direction
Interestingly, this direction has already been used by several Android manufacturers, especially from China. In recent years, however, many brands have returned to flat screens, also influenced by design Apple. If Apple now adopts such a panel, it is possible that the trend will return strongly on Android flagships in 2027 and 2028.
Rumors also point to a collaboration between Apple and Samsung for screen development. The panel would be a special one, without a polarizer and with a radius of curvature customized to Apple’s requirements.
However, the final name of the phone is not certain. While it could be the iPhone 19 Pro and iPhone 19 Pro Max, Apple could choose a different name for the anniversary generation, given the symbolism of the moment.
The first iPhone was introduced in January 2007 and launched in June of the same year. In 2027, Apple will mark two decades since the product that completely changed the phone industry.
