Guest of Nunzia De Girolamo on «Ciao Maschio», the journalist spoke about his book «Daddy. Anatomy of a desperate love”, recounting the bond he never had with his parent, who passed away in 2020 two weeks before his mother
Regret, sense of guilt and mourning: this emerges from the touching interview given to Antonello Piroso from Nunzia De Girolamo in the living room ofHI MaleIt all starts from the book written by the journalist – “Dad. Anatomy of a desperate love” – and above all from that definition of “Love desperate” which contains a complex family bond, characterized by prolonged silences between him and his parents and by a non-existent relationship with a violent father, who forced him to grow up without a guide, a reference. «I forgave my father too late. We didn’t have a relationship when I was a child, teenager, teenager and so I made my own way through life“, explains Pirosoconfessing that the attempt at reconciliation with his father, however, clashed with time.
«It is always said: the things I can do tomorrow I will do tomorrowbecause there’s plenty of time. Then suddenly there is no more time». The reference is to the disappearance of the parents, which occurred two weeks apart from each other, when Italy it was full lockdown for the Covid and they were hospitalized in one RSA. «My father died in April, my mother died in May – recalls the journalist, then using very harsh words towards the structure where the parents were -.The RSA is a residence without expectationsif not to go to the other side. I would have preferred a different ending for them too. My parents didn’t die of Covid. My parents died of old age, but also definitely of loneliness».
