The National Association of Agricultural Professionals (ANPA) announced the realization of a new march towards the National Palace on July 24, while continuing to wait for a response from the President of the Republic to the main demands of the sector.
The decision was approved during an assembly held in the National District, with the participation of dozens of agricultural professionals, who reaffirmed the continuity of the union’s fight plan.
The president of the ANPA, Tito Hernandezreiterated that the organization believes in dialogue and consultation as the best way to reach agreements, but also in peaceful and organized struggle when the demands of agricultural professionals do not receive a response.
“I want to tell the President of the Republic that we agronomists are not his enemies, nor are we enemies of the Government, nor do we respond to partisan interests. We are a union organization whose reason for being is to defend the demands of agricultural professionals,” he expressed.
Hernández recalled that the demands of the ANPA are decent pensions for 1,435 agricultural professionalsrevision of sections and increase in pensions for 670 agronomists, appointment of 500 new professionals, including the replacement of 350 canceled, a minimum salary of RD$50,000 and the application of the categorization and salary scale approved by the Ministry of Public Administration (MAP).
The ANPA reiterated that it expects a favorable response from the president before July 24 and called on all agricultural professionals in the country to participate massively in the event, in defense of their legitimate labor demands.
