The mortal remains of Susy Ysabel Aponte Poloknown as “China Polo”, candidate for the Regional Government of Ancashwere buried this Tuesday in the Lomas de la Paz cemetery in Nuevo Chimbote. The funeral procession previously toured some of the places linked to the life of the politician and journalist, who was shot dead last Saturday in the city of Caraz.
After being subjected to the legal necropsy in Huaraz, Aponte Polo’s remains were transferred by his relatives to Lima and later taken to the coast of Áncash. On Monday night, the coffin was installed in the Plaza Mayor of New Chimbotewhere family, friends and followers participated in the wake.
This Tuesday morning, the funeral procession arrived at the young town of Villa María. There, honors were paid at the school and at the victim’s home. Later, family, friends and followers accompanied the transfer to the Lomas de la Paz cemetery, where a mass was celebrated and the burial took place.
During the farewell, relatives and friends of “China Polo” asked for justice and asked the authorities to deepen the investigations to identify all those involved in the crime. They also asked to determine who had planned and ordered the murder.
