Turkmen actor Chary Berdyev won the top prize for best actor at the first Mari International Ethnic Film Festival in Yoshkar-Ola.
He received the jury’s highest rating for his profound and dramatic portrayal of the great Eastern poet and thinker in the full-length Turkmen-Uzbek film “Magtymguly Fragi,” the IIC reports.
The festival featured six full-length and 14 short films. Participants of the first Open Eurasian Film Award “Diamond Butterfly,” sponsored by the Russian Ministry of Culture, presented their works in the feature film competition, the source noted.
