New details have come to light from today’s operation in the Port of Durrës, where the Police seized 41 kg and 350 grams of cocaine, with a market value estimated at around 2 million euros.
The drugs were discovered in a container originating from Brazil, which according to the documentation was transporting chicken meat. During the search, the officers found 37 packages of suspected cocaine narcotics hidden in the outer lids of the container.
According to MCN, the company that ordered the shipment of chicken meat, where 41 kilograms of cocaine were also found, is AMG Food, with administrator/owner Arben Goxhaj and his brother Mondi Goxhaj.
The company turns out to be connected to the load controlled by the authorities at the Port of Durrës, while it remains to be determined by the investigation if the orderers of the load were aware of the narcotics hidden in the container.
The name of AMG Food is not unknown to the Albanian authorities. The company was involved in another scandal in March 2025, when a shipment of chicken meat imported from Brazil was found to be contaminated with Salmonella Typhimurium bacteria.
In that case, the food authorities blocked a quantity of the meat, while according to reports, some of the product had reached the market. The investigation was also extended to the persons responsible for the importation and distribution of the cargo.
In April 2025, Arben Goxha, associated with AMG Food, was arrested after being wanted in connection with the salmonella chicken issue. He and other persons were investigated in this case.
Now, more than a year after this episode, the company comes to the attention of the authorities again. However, until this stage there is no official data linking the company to cocaine trafficking.
Investigations by the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office are expected to determine whether the consignors of the cargo were aware of the drugs hidden in the container.
