The chancellor Robert Velasco visited the Joint Coordination Center at the embassy of USA in Mexicowithin the framework of the meeting of security from last week.
This was announced by the ambassador Ronald Johnson via X. “A great example of the close US-Mexico cooperation that is helping to make this historic soccer international the safest and most memorable in history.”
According to the US official, through coordination, information sharing and joint efforts, “we are strengthening security.”
After a meeting between Mexican and North American authorities on June 12, Mexico and the United States reached agreements on a “new era” of security cooperation.
The United States embassy in Mexico indicated that the conversation on June 12 in Mexico City focused on the fight against the groups of the delinquencyand both countries recognized that they can achieve “historic results” when they work together.
“In this spirit of cooperation, both countries are taking swift and decisive action – through the Bilateral Implementation Group (GBI) – to combat the drug traffic and weapons, strengthen our shared border, dismantle cartel networks and address threats that undermine the security and prosperity of communities on both sides of the border,” the embassy stated.
He indicated that representatives of 15 United States government agencies and their Mexican counterparts participated in said bilateral security implementation meeting, led by experts and held at the United States Embassy in Mexico City.
He added that “immediate and high-impact results” are being promoted on shared security priorities: “The conversations focused on key areas of cooperation, including combating organized crime and fuel theft, strengthening border security, containing illegal migration and arms trafficking, as well as advancing collaboration and coordination against emerging threats and tools, including drones.”
He highlighted that the GBI illustrates how security cooperation between the United States and Mexico continues to evolve and deepen. “This initiative represents the next stage of our joint efforts to generate concrete results that guarantee the security and well-being of our people,” he mentioned.
He pointed out that the governments of the president Claudia Sheinbaum and the president donald trump reaffirmed their determination to cooperate, protect their citizens and promote a safer and more prosperous region through continuous collaboration and coordination through regular meetings.
“People on both sides of our border deserve to live safe and peaceful, free from the intimidation, corruption and fear imposed by cartels and transnational criminal organizations,” the diplomatic representation said.
Ambassador Johnson highlighted the Joint Coordination Center as “a great example” of the close EU-Mexico cooperation “that is helping to make this historic international soccer tournament the safest and most memorable in history.”
“Through close coordination, information sharing and joint efforts, we are strengthening security, protecting our citizens and contributing to the success of this historic event,” the US diplomat said on his social networks.
