An official in the Comoros states:
A football official in the Comoros Islands said that Algeria can host the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, the summer edition of 2027.
This came against the backdrop of the slowdown in construction and restoration work on stadiums, training centers and the rest of the “CAN” facilities, in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, the three countries that are supposed to jointly organize the African Championship between June 19 and July 17, 2027.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe recently visited these three countries to examine their readiness to host the largest football event on the African continent.
In a report published on Monday, the French newspaper Le Monde quoted the President of the Comoros Federation, Said Ali Said Othman, as saying that CAF had secretly contacted five football federations on the African continent, as a kind of Plan B or alternative, in the event that Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda were confirmed unable to host the next African Championship within the pre-set deadlines.
Algeria was one of the five countries mentioned by the President of the Comoros Football Federation.
