The Kingdom stresses the importance of adhering to the United Nations Charter and promoting multilateral action
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on behalf of the Arab Group, stressed the pivotal importance of the United Nations Charter, as the basis on which the international system is based, stressing the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and not to interfere in their internal affairs.
This came in a speech by the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, on the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Charter.
He pointed out that the increasing global challenges require strengthening commitment to international law and adhering to the purposes and principles of the Charter, as they are the basis for maintaining international peace and security.
He urged the fair and consistent application of the principles of the Charter to all countries, in a way that enhances the credibility of the multilateral system and strengthens confidence in international institutions.
He called for continuing efforts aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the United Nations and its ability to respond to current and future challenges, in a way that serves all member states.
Dr. Al-Wasel renewed the commitment of Arab countries to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, stressing that international cooperation and multilateralism represent the best way to build a more secure, just and prosperous future.
