THE according to news Madonna’s new visual project, the short film Confessions II, made a successful debut at the Tribeca Film Festival, produced by the production company Torso, which also works on Charli XCX’s videos. The film is now available for free on YouTube and gives a taste of six songs from Madonna’s new album, which will be released on July 3rd. The production also features Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate Moss and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, and musical director was Stuart Price.
Instead of a traditional clip, it is more of a connected visual album: the film consists of six chapters that flow into each other and are based on the songs of the upcoming album. The story follows a chaotic night as Madonna escapes from a group of women equipped with cameras in various locations – bedrooms, club bathrooms and cars – while returning to the dance floor again and again. The project features several guest speakers, including Sabrina Carpenter.
At several points, the film also refers to the legendary Danceteria club in New York, which played an important role at the beginning of Madonna’s career. The cast also includes Richard E. Grant, Honey Dijon, Shygirl and soccer player João Pedro, while the entire crew and 250 extras were dressed by Dolce & Gabbana. Confessions II will be the follow-up to Madonna’s 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor.
