Algerian wrestler Louisa Abou Rish
The Algerian karate-do team, men and women, won eight new medals during the second day of the African Championship competitions, ongoing in Algeria.
On the second day, the national karate-do team won 3 golds, 4 silvers and one bronze.
Celia Wakan, in less than 50 kg, Louisa Abu Rish, in less than 55 kg, and Karima Makkawi, in less than 68 kg, in the Kumite discipline, were all able to win gold.
Celia Wekan defeated Egyptian Reem Ahmed Salama by a score of 8-3, Louisa Abu Rish defeated Egyptian Ahlam Youssef by a score of 5-1, and Karima Makkawi defeated Moroccan Hafsa Lahou by unanimous decision of the judges.
The silver was won by Ayoub Anis Halasa in less than 67 kg, and Hussein Daykhi in more than 84 kg, in addition to two silver medals.
Saber Ben Makhlouf in the men’s individual kata and Shaima Oudira in the women’s kumite over 68 kg.
As for the bronze medal, it was won by Faleh Maidoun in the weight category (less than 84 kg) in the men’s kumite.
The national team won two bronze medals during the opening day, thanks to Nariman Dahlab in the women’s individual kata and Khadija Gholam in the women’s under-61 kg kumite.
