Station 4, included in the first phase of the Aerometerwhich will connect Plaza España with El Trébol, could be completed in approximately 90 daysas reported by the Municipality of Guatemala, during a recent update on the progress of the project.
“In 90 days everything will be transformed. This station will become a strategic point within the mobility of Guatemala City. Line 1 and Line 2 of the AeroMetro converge here,” said Mayor Ricardo Quiñónez, referring to the El Trébol transfer station.
This includes the first stage of the cable transportation system, whose construction advances both in the infrastructure of the stations and in the installation of specialized components.
The Clover, the heart of the system
According to the commune, the El Trébol station will be one of the most important points in the entire network, since it will function as a connection center between the two AeroMetro lines.
The Line 1 will unite Spain Square with The Cloverwhile the Line 2 will continue towards Mixco. Therefore, the station will concentrate the flow of passengers transferring between both routes.
Authorities also released images of what the infrastructure will look like once completed, showing a complex designed to integrate the operations of both lines.
Recent advances
In recent weeks, the project entered a new stage with the start of electromechanical assembly at the Plaza España station, considered the most advanced on Line 1.
The work includes the installation of steel rails, bearing systems and other equipment that will later allow the placement of the cabins and the commissioning of the system.
According to those responsible for the project, this phase marks the transition between the construction of civil works and the assembly of the elements that will make the operation of the Aerometer.
The system is designed to connect Guatemala City with Mixco through fully electric cable transportation, with stations distributed along both lines and the capacity to move thousands of users daily.
