At 2 p.m. in Almedalen on Wednesday, while the Sweden Democrats’ party leader Jimmie Åkesson was being interviewed, he was pursued by a man. The man stayed too close, the police said, and did not listen to the bodyguards – which led to him being wrestled to the ground.
“They pushed him to the ground. He was quite big,” says Ola Österling.
“They also handcuffed him and then took him away in a police car. Then they took the handcuffs off him and set him free,” Österling continues.
The man allegedly screamed and resisted, and did not listen to the Säpo guards’ orders.
He was never arrested but was released after being removed from the scene.
