The first half was equal between the two teams, before the Colombian team imposed its advantage in the second half, but the brilliance of Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa prevented him from conceding a goal, preserving the tie.
In the first minute of stoppage time, defender Davinson Sanchez scored a header goal for Colombia, but the referee ruled it out for offside, so the match ended in a goalless draw.
In the second match in the same group, the Congolese national team defeated Uzbekistan 3-1, ensuring qualification to the round of 32 among the best third-placed teams.
With these results, Colombia topped the group standings with 7 points, followed by Portugal in second place with 5 points, then Congo in third place with 4 points, while Uzbekistan exited the tournament after finishing at the bottom of the standings with no score.
The Colombian national team will meet Ghana in the round of 32, while the Portuguese national team will face its Croatian counterpart next Friday.
