A fire broke out in the basement of a single-family house in Vogur on Vatnsleysuströnd not long ago.
It took a short time to put out the fire, according to Eythór Rúnar Þórarinsson, the head of the Suðurnes fire department’s fire department, but when a journalist caught up with him, the firemen were clearing the basement.
When asked, Eythór says that some people were inside when the fire broke out, but they got out of their own accord.
One ambulance and a fire truck were sent to the scene. No one has been taken to hospital for treatment.
Eythór says that the fire was localized. He did not have information about whether and how much damage was done in the basement.
