A child fell from the viewing platform at Blej Castle
According to information from the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Protection and Rescue, at 10:35 a.m. in the morning, a child fell from the viewing platform in the immediate vicinity of the Bled Castle into the depths and was seriously injured.
According to the first information, the family from Hungary was walking along the path around Bled Castle when the child stepped on the edge and fell into the depths. He was seriously injured in the fall, and was transported to the Ljubljana Hospital by a Slovenian Army helicopter. In addition to the police, the mountain rescuers of the Radovljica Regional Rescue Service, the medical staff of the Bled EMS and the GRZS mountain rescue helicopter team, which also includes a police officer from the mountain police unit, intervened at the scene.
“The child slipped over the wall from the vantage point, and then down the steep slope,” Toni Smolej, head of the Radovljica Mountain Rescue Service, told STA. 10 rescuers participated in the rescue.
The site of the incident was inspected by criminal officers from the Criminal Police Department of the Kranj Police Department. The on-duty investigating judge and the state prosecutor also came to the scene. Police officers are collecting information about the incident and will inform the competent district prosecutor’s office of all findings, the PU Kranj announced.
