Kick-off event
Greenland is as usual strongly represented at the world’s largest raw materials fair PDAC (Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada) in Toronto, which runs from 1.-4. March 2026.
Kick-off event
On Sunday, the record-breaking delegation was invited to a kick-off meeting, where both the Danish ambassador to Canada Nikolaj Harris and the members of Naalakkersuisut Naaja H. Nathanielsen (IA) and Peter Borg (D) were present.
The two mayors Lars Erik Gabrielsen (S) from Avannaata Kommunia and Malene Vahl Rasmussen (D) from Kujalleq had also made the trip across the Atlantic to participate in the conference.
The same was true of members of the Business and Raw Materials Committee in Inatsisartut; Mariane Paviasen (IA), Hans-Erik Enoksen (D), Lars Poulsen (S) and deputy Aqqalu C. Jerimiassen (A).

Geopolitical attention
The main speech at the kick-off event was given by Greenland’s head of representation in the USA and Canada, Jacob Isbosethsen, who put into words the importance of the geopolitical attention to Greenland.
– For Greenlandic companies, the geopolitical visibility means an increased interest, but also an increased expectation from you of professionalism, transparency and strategic awareness.

According to Jacob Isbosethsen, the past year has not only been a strategically intense task, but also difficult on a human level.
– Not least for many of you at home in Greenland: the uncertainty, the many announcements, the speculation, and the pressure that comes when one’s country is referred to as property that can be taken. It also affects the companies, the investors, the employees and their families. Security policy and business policy are no longer separate tracks, said Jacob Isbosethsen, among others, who also stated that Greenland is not overlooked, but rather taken seriously.
– Governments around the world are listening to us. They follow our decisions and announcements. And with that arise both opportunities and challenges. This means that we must all act responsibly.

Panel debate and the coming days
Subsequently, there was a panel discussion under the heading “Mining in the Arctic” focusing on how Canada and Greenland can learn from each other.
Among the 37 companies registered for the conference from Greenland and Denmark are, among others, 60 North, Air Greenland, Arctic Import, Arctic Law, Blue Water Shipping, COWI, EMJ Atcon, GreenlandCopter and the Bank of Greenland.

In addition, a large number of companies that have a license in Greenland participate, for example Amaroq Minerals, Lumina, GreenROC Mining, Tanbreez, Energy Transition Minerals, Greenland Resources.
Greenland Day is held on Monday, which this year has a particular focus on the French and Canadian cooperation opportunities. In addition, a number of raw materials companies with a license in Greenland will talk about their projects. These are Greenland Graphite, Greenland Resources, Greenland Anorthosite Mining, Lumina Sustainable Materials and Nalunaq.
