The United States ambassador to Panama, Kevin Cabrerareported this Tuesday, April 14, on the delivery of a technical report related to the structural conditions of the bridge of the americasafter the explosion recorded this Monday, April 6 in its vicinity.
Through a publication on his X account, the diplomat indicated that he welcomed the team of engineers from the United States Army Corps of Engineers, who carried out a direct evaluation of the infrastructure, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works (MOP).
“Today we welcomed the engineering team (…) to learn first-hand about their evaluation of the Bridge of the Americas, working alongside our MOP partners“said Cabrera, also highlighting that the administration of the president donald trump maintains its support for Panama to guarantee the security of this key structure.
The statement comes after the explosion that occurred on April 6 in the La Boca sector, in the areas near the bridge, an event that left one person dead and at least four injured, including two members of the Fire Department.
Panamanian authorities, including the Fire Department, are keeping investigations open to determine the causes of the incident, while possible effects on the infrastructure of the bridge, considered one of the main road connection points in the country, are evaluated.
So far, the specific findings of the technical report have not been publicly detailed, but it is expected that the evaluations will determine the true state of the structure.
