Siumut’s Ane Lone Bagger is happy that she came home from the Middle East to take part in the election. Inuujuk Petersen from Demokraatit feels that his election campaign has flown by.
Tuesday has Sermitsiaq met several politicians from the parties who, according to tradition, have taken up positions along the road up to the polling place in Godthåbhallen.
One of them is the candidate for Siumut Ane Lone Bagger, who had a dramatic start to the election campaign because she was stranded in Dubai due to the acts of war by Israel and the United States against Iran.
Looking back, what would you say about your election campaign?
– It has been hard, and it seems different this year, because the foreign attention on us is great. I also hope that one day we can influence who will be the head of government in Denmark. The most important thing is that we get the most for Greenland.
At the start of the election campaign you were in warm countries, and now you are here on election day – how does it feel?
– Yes, I was in Dubai when the Prime Minister announced the election, and then the war started, which meant that I could not leave the country. I was down there for a whole week and was scared. I didn’t really prepare for the election, but luckily we got home unharmed, says Ane Lone Bagger and continues:
– You almost want to say that you went from one war to another, because it has been hard since my arrival. Now we just have to sit here for the rest of the day and hope for as many votes as possible, as the percentage of votes for general elections is usually low. We need a strong foundation in the form of a massive majority from across the country.
What are your plans for today?
– I take the day calmly, greet the voters and try to convince those who have doubts. We fight to the end.
Debutante: Election campaign has flown by
Inuujuk Petersen from Demokraatit is also on his way to the polling station. It is the first time he is standing and he feels the election campaign has flown by.
Looking back, what would you say about your election campaign?
– I have personally experienced that time has passed very quickly during my election campaign. With all the travel, conversations and activities, it feels like it all flew by. It’s been exciting, especially because it’s my first time running. You have to have strength all the time and hope that it goes well.

What do you remember when you first announced you were running?
– Everything was new, but I also thought that it is something you have to try, because I have been interested in politics for a long time, although I had not previously imagined running for office. Then the election was called and I prepared a little, but also felt that I didn’t need to prepare too much.
What are your plans for today?
– I’ve been looking forward to this day – it’s finally here. I want to talk to the people I meet. I have been so busy during the election campaign, so I want to spend the day meeting people and talking to them. I really like that too.
