Guayaquil is going through one of the most intense days of heat so far this month. The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inamhi) also warned of extremely high levels of ultraviolet radiation in much of the country.
In the Coast region, temperatures today will range between 23.5 °C and 34 °C, with a thermal sensation that may be higher due to humidity.
The most dangerous hours of the day
The period of greatest risk due to heat and solar radiation is concentrated between:
- 10:00 and 15:00: extremely high UV radiation
- 12:00 and 14:00: maximum peak temperature and solar exposure
During these hours, direct exposure to the sun can cause heat stroke, dehydration and skin damage in just a few minutes.
Beyond heat, the main risk is ultraviolet radiation. The Inamhi warns that the levels will be very high to extremely high.
To avoid the risk, it is recommended to wear sunscreen, light clothing and drink enough water during the day.
