The Government of Paraguay Scholarship Program today presented the award certificates for almost 7,600 higher education scholarships, in a massive event at the National Sports Secretariat.
In an event held this Saturday at the headquarters of the National Sports Secretariat, the award certificates of almost 7,600 scholarships of higher education of Government of Paraguay Scholarship Program to young people from all over the country.
These are scholarships that will allow their beneficiaries to pursue university, technical or teacher training studies.
In a speech during the delivery ceremony, the president Santiago Pena He highlighted “the effort and sacrifice” of the applicants and added that the scholarships are a recognition of their “work, courage and bravery.”

The president asked the scholarship recipients to “become multiplying agents and go out and tell (…) that it is worth putting in the effort.”
Both President Peña and other national authorities present at the event – including the Vice President Pedro Allianathe Paraguayan director of Itaipu, Justo Zacarías Irun or the Minister of Education, Luis Ramirezthey avoided giving statements to the media.
They expanded the number of scholarships
Initially it was announced this year that the Scholarship Program would have 5,000 places available for this year’s call. However, the government announced at the end of March the expansion of these quotas to 7,600.
The program is financed with contributions from Itaipu Binationalthe Yacyretá Binational Entityhe Ministry of Education and Sciences and the National Youth Secretariat.
