The Vice President of the United States, James David Vance, assured that his country maintains an open position in dialogue with Iran, although he warned that there will be no room for delaying tactics or deception during the negotiations.
The statements were offered before leaving for Pakistan for a key meeting, in which sensitive issues in the bilateral relationship will be addressed. Vance expressed that there is a willingness to advance in a constructive process, as long as the counterpart acts with “good faith”.
“We are willing to extend an open hand”stated the vice president, while emphasizing that, if Iran tries “play them”the American negotiating team will respond firmly and will not be receptive to these types of strategies.
The official also indicated that the process will be carried out under clear guidelines established by President Donald Trump, which suggests a defined strategy on the part of the US administration in this new attempt at diplomatic rapprochement.
The talks take place at a time of high international tension, with multiple sources of conflict in the Middle East and growing concerns about regional stability.
Vance insisted that the main objective is to achieve a positive result, although he made it clear that the United States will not give in to pressure or accept conditions that it considers unfavorable.
