From cotton to technology and joint production…these are sectors of cooperation between Algeria and America!

A meeting between the Economic Renewal Council and American officials:

Algeria is moving to strengthen its economic relations with the United States of America, within the framework of a partnership based on joint production and valorization of raw materials.

These topics were discussed during a meeting between the Algerian Economic Renewal Council delegation and officials from the US Department of Commerce, where the discussion included strategic sectors, most notably industry, pharmacy, energy, agriculture, mining, and modern technologies, in addition to supporting the textile industry by providing cotton and developing joint value chains.

According to a statement by the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, Al-Shorouk received a copy of it, and as part of the continuation of the program of activities on the sidelines of the “Select USA” investment summit, Kamal Mawla and a number of members of the Council’s Executive Office held, on May 5, 2026, an important meeting with Thomas Bruns, Deputy Director General of the US Department of Commerce, in the presence of Mark Shapiro, Chargé d’Affairs at the US Embassy in Algeria.

The source explained that Bronze expressed his great happiness at this meeting, and expressed his satisfaction with the development of the Algerian participation from year to year, in terms of quality and quantity, noting that the number of major companies participating has increased significantly, stressing at the same time that the United States is considered a historical partner of Algeria, and that it aspires to develop this partnership further in the next stage.

For his part, Kamal Mawla reviewed the economic transformations that Algeria is currently experiencing, especially in the industrial aspect, explaining that this dynamic opens wide and multiple horizons for partnership between the companies of the two countries.

Mawla added that Algeria aspires to implement high-tech projects that require raw materials and expertise, in addition to developing partnerships in the joint production of goods and services, with a focus on strategic sectors such as pharmacy, energy, agriculture, mining, modern technologies and digital industries.

The President of the Council also proposed the possibility of establishing balanced customs tariff mechanisms based on the “winner-winner” principle, applied to the import of American raw materials in order to transform them in Algeria before exporting part of them in the form of final products to the United States.

In the same context, Bronze expressed his great confidence in the future of economic relations between the two countries, stressing his desire to intensify joint activities, including forums, virtual meetings, and others, in order to better introduce Algeria and its potential to American businessmen, considering that this constitutes a starting point for a fruitful economic dialogue, and proposing to organize a regular annual meeting between the two parties to follow up and evaluate the progress of the committed projects.

On the same day, the delegation continued its meetings with representatives of various American states, where it met with the team of the Governor of Mississippi, which is known for its productive capabilities in the fields of growing corn, sugar cane, soybeans, wheat, and especially cotton, in addition to the energy sector. The talks focused on opportunities to develop joint projects in these areas.

Kamal Mawla also touched on the development of the textile industry in Algeria in recent years, pointing to the strengthening of its production capabilities and the growing need for large quantities of cotton, which the United States can provide through appropriate customs pricing mechanisms.

The source also indicated that the number of major companies participating in this path has witnessed a significant increase, while reiterating that the United States represents an important and strategic partner for Algeria.
