A new generation of electronic medicine dispensers has found its way onto the Icelandic market, but the medicine dispenser in question has already been put into use in Scandinavia.
The safety center is responsible for the introduction of the medicine dispensers, but their use has steadily increased since they first entered the Icelandic market about five years ago.
The devices seem to have proven their value both in the health system and with users, according to Diljár Guðmundardóttir, an expert in health technology at the Security Center.
“This new generation of medicine dispensers has been very well received both in Iceland and in the Nordic countries. It is already in use in Norway and Sweden, where it is proving to be very successful, and we have already started promoting it in many parts of the country,” says Diljá.
She says that with this innovation, the Safety Center is taking an important step towards increased safety, better possibilities for independent living for older people in their own homes and improved service in medication administration.
