Turmush — The legendary pilot Ysmayilbek Taranchiev was a Hero of the Soviet Union.
His daughter-in-law Zuurakan Mambetalieva spoke about Taranchiev’s beloved named Anzhelika.
Parents and relatives…
I came to Taranchy ata’s house in 1973. It turns out he had 4 children. The eldest is Ysmayilbek, after him the daughter Ainake, the son of Mambetala and the youngest daughter Sabyrgul. Their mother died at the age of 28. Her name was Zuurabu Miozhylkyeva.
The children were raised by their grandmother. Father is father, he does things in the yard, in the garden. During the war, Taranchy ata was involved in work in the rear, leaving the children with their grandmother.
A feat accomplished by one person out of a thousand…
The eldest son of Taranchy ata, Ysmayilbek, was born on April 6, 1923 in the village of Besh-Kungey, Alamedin district. In 1934 he graduated from a 4-year rural school. Now teachers live in this school.
Then he studied in Koi-Tash until the 5th grade, and from 1936-1938 he studied at a school in the village of Tash-Dobo. This school was later named after Ismail Taranchiev. Inside, one classroom has been converted into a museum.
Then, while studying at a technical school, teacher pilots came and accepted him into the flying club. In 1941 he graduated from the flying club with honors and in the same year was drafted into the Soviet army. He served as a pilot-navigator in the 566th assault aviation regiment. The named regiment received the Order of Kutuzov and the Red Banner.
Taranchiev made 36 combat missions and on February 26, 1944, during an attack on the Tartu airfield (Estonia), he destroyed 3 enemy aircraft. On March 18, he sent a burning Il-2 at a concentration of enemy tanks, inflicted heavy losses on the enemy and died heroically. Such a feat could be accomplished by one person in a thousand or even one in a million…
They didn’t believe in his death…
Taranchy ata and his grandmother did not believe it when a letter arrived about the death of their son Ysmayilbek. Each time, without losing hope, they looked at the road and waited. Until their death they didn’t believe…
Taranchy ata died in September 1982, his second son died in 1983, and later his daughters.
Late reward…
The title “Hero of the Soviet Union” came late. 40 years have passed and with the help of brothers, acquaintances, sisters, without stopping running and writing complaints, we received the title of “Hero” to our father. The soldiers who were with him in the war also made a great contribution. They told living facts and provided evidence.
Letter from Angelica…
In 1990, a woman from Russia came to our village with her grandson. Her name was Angelica. It turns out that she and Ysmayilbek ata met at one time. He told her about his homeland, as a beautiful place surrounded by mountains with clean air. She said she came to see this place.
The guest noted that she would have married Ysmayilbek ata if he had remained alive and moved here to live. We still have the letter that Angelique wrote to our father.
Unfortunately, he died in the war, and he doesn’t even have descendants. We are the children of his younger sister Aineke. It turns out that my husband Zhekshenbai was adopted by Taranchy Ata in infancy. So, he called his maternal grandfather father.
Were with him until his death. He lived a good life, only waiting for his son Ysmayilbek… Outwardly he was fair-skinned, green-eyed. He was distinguished by his hard work and thriftiness. He was a perceptive person, he could see the inner world of a person at first glance.
Zhekshen and I have 6 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
