Bogota (Colombia) May 6, 2026 (SPS) – The House of Representatives of the Republic of Colombia awarded the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic a high medal during an official ceremony held in Bogota.
The award, called the Grand Solidarity Order of Dignity and Fatherland, was awarded by the Board of Directors of the Second Committee on Foreign Relations, Defence, National Security, Foreign Trade and Decorations. The medal was presented to the Embassy of the Sahrawi Republic in Colombia, and was received by its ambassador, Mohamed Ali Ali Salem.

The ceremony was presided over by Rep. David Alejandro Toro Ramírez, who presented the medal. The ceremony was also attended by the Chief of Protocol in the House of Representatives, Plinio Ordonez, and the Secretary of the Second Committee on Foreign Relations, Magda Lorena Torres Bocanegra.
The Dignity and Homeland Medal, in the Great Solidarity category, is awarded to individuals and institutions that highlight their efforts in promoting cooperation, solidarity and international relations. In this case, the Medal is awarded in recognition of the diplomatic representation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in Colombia.
The ceremony takes place within the framework of the close diplomatic relations between Colombia and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, and reflects an institutional gesture of appreciation to the Sahrawi people. (Was)
