The trial of 12 defendants, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was suspended from office due to the corruption investigation carried out against him for alleged irregularities in the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, will continue tomorrow at the Ankara 26th Criminal Court of First Instance.
12 defendants, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, Özgür Çelik, Cemil Tugay and Rıza Akpolat, are on trial in the case.
KILIÇDAROĞLU IS FOUND AS A VICTIM
Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is listed as the victim in the case filed upon the criminal complaint of former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş and some delegates.
In the case, it is requested that 12 defendants who allegedly committed the crime of voting fraud be sentenced to up to 3 years in prison.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE LAST HEARING?
The last hearing regarding the case was held on April 1.
Announcing its interim decision after the statements, the court ruled that the statement of the defendant Özgen Nama be taken to the next hearing and postponed the hearing to May 6.
HOW DID THE CASE COME TO TODAY?
The history of the case dates back to the 38th Ordinary Congress held on 4-5 November 2023 and the 21st Extraordinary Congress held on 6 April 2025.
It was claimed that the 38th Ordinary Congress was tampered with by former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş and some delegates; A lawsuit was filed in different courts, claiming that the votes of the delegates were bought in exchange for bribes.
These cases were consolidated in the 42nd Civil Court of First Instance.

DISCUSSIONS ON ABSOLUTE NIGHTLIFE
During the litigation process, there were also discussions about the absolute nullity of the congress in question.
The plaintiffs allege that there was bribery and fraud in the voting and that the will of the delegates was impaired.
The plaintiffs, who want the congress to be deemed null and void, argue that former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu should be reinstated.
